ISC Solutions Tip Toes In and Out of NYC

ISC Solutions 2011 -- with its shortened day-and-a-half show this year -- welcomed approximately 230 exhibitors. Thought the traffic seemed light this year, it was steady. For the smaller, regional show, it still continues to attract the big players, such as Axis Communications, Panasonic, Samsung and Honeywell -- all with news to share.

Axis introduced a slew of products at the show: the M5014 PTZ Dome Network Camera, the Q1602 Network Camera, the M7014 Video Encoder and the P3367-V/-VE Fixed Dome Network Cameras. These products feature multi-stream day/night functionality and varifocal lenses for excellent image quality.

Launched during ASIS, on display in Panasonic's booth was SituCon’s Emergency Awareness Solution, which features a sophisticated alerting system and patented privacy protecting technology that allows personnel to instantly alert authorities when an emergency occurs and lets responders see what is happening at the scene, while guaranteeing privacy at all other times.

The SituCam Privacy Protecting Cameras feature software-controlled “eyelids” that cover the camera’s lens until danger strikes. When asleep, the cameras are covered by an eyelid that anyone in the area can see, ensuring privacy. When the system is activated, the eyelids open, allowing authorities to watch as emergency situations unfold.

Show attendees observed demonstrations of the various features of the integrated solution including the way the system can conveniently and discreetly activated, without the need for any additional equipment, simply by using Panasonic’s pendant microphone.

Just in time for ISC Solutions, Samsung released the iPOLiS SRN-1670D 16-channel NVR, which supports up to 16 network video streams in VGA, 4CIF, 1.3 megapixel or 2 megapixel resolutions. Recording rates are up to 120 fps for 1.3 or 2 megapixel images and up to 480 fps for 4CIF high-resolution images. The iPOLiS SRN-470D 4- channel NVR records up to four channels of 1.3 megapixel, 2 megapixel or 4CIF input at 120 fps.

Fire-Lite Alarms by Honeywell announced the nationwide expansion of its Software Applications training. The course walks participants through a complete Fire-Lite Alarms system set-up from configuration and voltage-drop calculations to programming and updating control panel software. For $200 per participant, the one-day training covers Fire-Lite Alarms full suite of free software packages: Lite-Configurator, Lite-Calcs, PS-Tools and PPU Wizard.

The company has also expanded its 2012 free online training offerings through the addition of self-paced training modules and “how-to” videos. The new Web-based trainings will cover the most requested training and tech-support topics, including basic fire alarm technology, products not covered in the two-day Fire-Lite Systems class and basic panel programming.

Silent Knight by Honeywell announced its one-day Fire Drill course, designed to provide an introduction to basic fire alarm technology and specific Silent Knight systems. The course is free and offered throughout the year in cities across the United States.

For more advanced, hands-on training on Silent Knight’s IntelliKnight systems, the two-day Tech Ed course covers installation, programming and troubleshooting. The cost is $200 per attendee and includes programming software, CEUs and lunch.

Though the major east coast players always make an impressive showing at ISC Solutions in New York, the industry is already planning to introduce cutting-edge products and major announcements at ISC West 2012 in Las Vegas. As usual, Security Products will be there to cover all the action.
